Become a psychic mathematician then you might be able to understand a gas or electricity bill.

Let a student cut your hair: Get your haircuts at the local colleges, where students can gain experience, and you get a cheap – or free – ‘do’. It’s not that risky, most students have had hours of class time and there’s always a teacher supervising.

Re-gifting: If you got a gift that you don’t need or want, don’t take it out of its special box or packaging. For a next occasion, you have your gift without spending a penny Embarassed

Don't spend what you haven't got.

Never, ever reinsure your house or car without going on a price comparison site or two. Also, if you really do want to use the same company, ring them and ask them if it really is their best quote as you are thinking of moving. Amazing what they can come up with.

Don't buy the legal cover if you are a member of a trade union and many other organisations as you usually get this free as one of your membership benefits.

Ring your mortgage company up every couple of years and ask to speak to their Customer Retention Unit as you are looking around for a better deal. They will often offer you a two-year deal frozen at half a % under the Bank of England base rate.

DO join a credit union. Great if you want free legal advice and want to pay off those dammed credit cards.

Don't get your phone and broadband through Talk-Talk. In this case, cheaper is not necessarily better and is often FAR worse.

(All personally tried and tested by Hinch.)

All good tips for stopping the outflow of money. Most people need more money coming in as well. There are still opportunities for those who understand computer technology and how to get organised to improve their income.

Marry a book keeper who checks every penny in and out each week, Matron is available at a rate.

Get a water meter. If you’ve got money earning nowt in the bank invest in solar panels and hope for a sunny day. If you have solar panels de rate as many appliances to 1KW and use them on a sunny day. Get rid of a dish washer, especially if you do the above. Leave the car at home when possible, yes only joking.

I must remonstrate with you OR. 'The Dishwasher' is no way to refer to Mrs H. Besides, it's my turn with the mop on the stick and the Fairy Liquid today.

Now how do you operate these taps? What do the blue and red marks mean?

God, this is so stressful. I need a drink.

Cancel any unused credit cards, they stay on your file as available credit even if its not used.
When you ring up to cancel they will try to get you to keep the card open and offer you up to £50..accept the offer...spend it and then close the card Cool

So.........the taxpayer gives the money to the government, the government give it to the banks, the banks give it to people who threaten to cancel their credit cards, it's a strange system, but we have to make the best of it. Shocked

It wasnt a threat cyffi I intended to close the account anyway, they offered it as a 'refund of interest paid' but seeing as it was an interest free balance transfer that had been paid up I dont know where they got the idea from, but hey...I'm not going to argue when they want to give me £50

Two chickens on the bargain shelf at Asda, under £5 for both, each approx 1.5kgs in weight. Remove breasts, freeze for later use, Roast the rest upside down (to prevent it being too greasy). Remove all meat and use the nicest bits (and there is plenty) for Sunday dinner. The rest of the meat is fine for a chicken casserole or pie or stew. Boil up the bones and sieve and use for stock.

So thats 12 meals minimum. depending on the amount of casserole you make. 41p a serving for the chicken.

Save your 41p per portion and get your completely FREE-range chickens on Entwisle Road. Cost a couple of pence per portion for the gas used in cooking them.
