Are you happy with the decision to move the Coronor's Office to Heywood?

Coroners & Inquests moving ? Empty Coroners & Inquests moving ?

Post  Jeanie Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:12 pm

I can't believe that the Coroners & Inquests are moving from Rochdale to Heywood because "no suitable premises are available to accommodate them in Rochdale ???
Erm sorry but are all the spaces now taken in the New Municipal building Question
So for someone needing to go for an inquest on a close family member who hasn't any transport and has to catch 2 buses to Heywood and 2 buses back traumatised that's ok is it No

What next I wonder?
You cant be born in a Rochdale hospital, you cant lie in a morgue in Rochdale and now your inquest cant be held in Rochdale, is the Registry Office next in the line of fire so you cant be married in a registry office in Rochdale?
Oh and of course you cant be prosecuted in Rochdale.

Yes Charly this will in time have an effect on the Registry Office which we fought to save only last year when it was under threat to move to Oldham !
It was only a couple or so weeks ago Rochdale Council was saying they would have to private rent some of these offices in the new build because it "was rather larger than planned" so why can't our ROCHDALE Inquests & Coroner be housed at home in the new council premises Question
It just does not make sense Mad

Might be no need to SB, the electricity providers might have left already!

Pardon my complete and utter ignorance here but isn't Heywood part of the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale?

So if the Coronor's Court moves to Heywood it is still within the borough right? A 10-15 minute bus ride away for most people.

I really can understand why some people living in Middleton and Heywood get a bit fed up of the mindset that believes that if it doesnt fall within the pre-1974 Rochdale boundary it somehow doesn't exist.

Yes, of course it is nice to have services close by where they have always been but it is also good to see the people of the borough pulling together.

Its more the statement that there are 'no suitable premises' when we've got that stonking big £50M municipal building that they cant fill!
You might as well say Summit or Langley is part of RMBC, it is, but do we want services moving to the outskirts when we have got premises in the centre of town which is accessible to more people and supposedly being regenerated?
Why spend £150M on regeneration when there is nothing here?

Mmm, and so is Pennine, which strangely seems to have been replaced by Castleton as a Township on the forum Header:

Rochdale Talk
Community forum for anyone who lives or works in or has an interest in Rochdale, Heywood, Castleton or Middleton,

Unimpressed family member in Littleborough claiming discrimination, yet again.

Well I suppose it is possible to list every possible area, district, ward and township in alphabetical order so as to minimise the risk of causing people to feel excluded or take offence but then again, I have never underestimated the readiness of some folk to take the huff at anything.

Littleborough already has a forum I think. In fact, I'm a member.

Rochdale Talk is what we are called and that is what we are staying as.

One of our Mods did suggest calling it RMBC Talk but if we did that, we know we'd have some council jobsworth coming down on us like a sack of something warm, brown and smelly.

If people want to feel excluded, then the answer is simple; don't register. Perhaps they may wish to start their own forum called 'A***holes Online' or similar?

All are welcome to join wherever they come from. The more diverse the membership the broader and more informed the debate.

I think it is both right and fair for services like these to be shared throughout the borough, but I agree it is stupid for people to suggest that their are no suitable places in Rochdale, especially if there is spare office accommodation in the new RMBC HQ.

Heywood & Middleton are part of Rochdale MBC although you wouldn't think it with some of the Councillors who "chuff" on and on about wanting to be independant of Rochdale!

The argument is about RMBC stating there is no suitable premises in Rochdale to house our Coroner to hold Inquests which is absolute rubbish when they have a brand new build that is too big and can't be filled and they need to advertise for private company's to move in Sad .

It might only be a 15 minute drive away to Heywood or Middleton but if you have ever been in such a sad situation those extra minutes make a huge difference on something you have to live with for the rest of your life

Just beggars belief our Coroner has to move out What Next I Wonder? because this will have a knock on effect on Births ,Deaths & Marriages in Rochdale Rolling Eyes

ADMIN: 'Nana Sparrow, ' now a setlled Moorender, is very slow to take the "huff" at anything and commented that Pennines is one of the borough's townships that gets overlooked. No suggestion was made to change your forum name.

Never mind floating the idea of starting an 'A***holes On Line' forum. You've already confessed to biting off the heads of live creatures, so don't be surprised to find a large parrot silently flying right behind you, looking for an opportunity to bite off a certain pointing finger!

Nana S made the comparison whether people from nether parts of Heywood or Middleton would consider it reasonable to get to Hare Hill house in Littleborough to collect death or burial certificates. As a lifelong non-driver, she has bussed this borough from end to end and knows her onions when it comes to bus journey times.

Not everyone has a car, a bottomless pocket, or a set of relatives or contacts to help them out at such times of distress and anxiety.

The call for us all to use the main Rochdale town centre is non stop. Unused and new central office accommodation there is blooming well obvious. (Who said the Coroner has to move out ? Shocked
