"Human trafficking to the UK is rising, latest government statistics suggest.
The authorities learned of 946 'victims' last year.
Gangs in China, Vietnam, Nigeria and eastern Europe now pose the biggest threat to the UK
The government said better co-ordination between its departments and with authorities abroad was key"

Really? rather than better co-ordination between authorities, I suggest much tighter border control is 'key' How do these people get their 'victims' into the country?
Are we talking victims or are we talking people smuggling?

On the radio this morning it said that the UK now has people being traffiked for selling their organs happening here. This 'open borders' arrangement may be good for some aspects of international trade, but lands us with some grim social problems.

I know that as an organisation, the Border Control Agency are rife with problems but on the ground, they look to do a decent job. HOWEVER, it all falls apart when they catch illegal entries and then hand them over to the Dibble where they are promptly given bail and disappear never to be seen again.

A lot of these 'sting' operations take months to organise and cost thousands. It must be so disheartening for them.

In Saudi, they just round them up. No trial and then take them out to the old desert airport where they are flown out in batches on old aircraft.

Of course, a lot of the people who do the traffiking enter the country quite legally and move the girls around every couple of weeks or so. The trade in human organs is truly sickening and the money raised helps to pay off loan sharks back home.

Amazed that Wonga.com hasn't got into it.

Time it was made illegal - wonga.com and the like. In my day they were called userers. Usury was the lending of money at exhorbitant rates and was, at some time in the past, a criminal offence. Why isn't it still?
Preying on the desperate and ignorant - no other words for it. Lower than the low in my book. Mad

Where is the ‘open boarder’ you speak of? Matron and I have re-entered this sceptred isle 3 times this year and have been most closely scrutinised, yes I know I look shifty. Although I must admit leaving seems easier these days with the French controlling outbound ferry and train exit. As for Manchester Airport I’m sure some East German starzi folk have found employment there.

Well, one of the first things they are trained to look for is poor eye-contact. You fail miserably in this respect.

Mind you, there are a few people I wouldn't let back inthe country if I had my choice. Cameron, Clegg & Blair being threeof 'em.

I do voluntary driving for people that have been trafficked taking them to a place of safety. Some come in on passports on the promise of work but when they arrive they then get abused to a very frightening level.

Even when victims get to a 'place of safety' they can be frightened of what might happen to their family.

The traffickers try and indeed find those they have had enslaved. When they do get found the trafficked are move to another safe place. What surprised me was the fact this is happening locally.
It is also true people get trafficked from here abroad.

"arrested as part of an investigation into a human trafficking and slavery ring in Burnley"

Slavery and people traffiking seems an established problem now, yet another problem that needs sorting out.

And the horror continues......

The proportion of sexually exploited children in Britain who have been trafficked within the country is rising, a major charity warns.

Of 546 sexually exploited children who Barnardo's worked with in September, the number known to be trafficked rose by 84%, from 76 to 140 year on year.

That equates to one in four in the UK, up from one in six in 2011, and rising to one in two in Wales.

The number of sexually exploited children known to Barnardo's rose by 22% to 1,452 in the UK last year and 37% during the past three years.

Barnardo's chief executive Anne Marie Carrie said: "We are shocked at the rise in the number of children reporting they have been moved around the country by abusers.

"Domestic trafficking of children for sex is a sophisticated type of exploitation, a sinister form of organised violation through networks of criminals.

"Nobody currently knows the full extent of these crimes because of their hidden nature, but what we do know is that every time we open a new service for victims it quickly becomes fully subscribed.

"If we are to save children from suffering for years at the hands of their abusers, more must be done by the authorities to identify victims of child sexual exploitation who are being internally trafficked and to stop this activity earlier on."

The charity surveyed 23 of its specialist services, an annual report it compiles each year.

Barnardo's service data also revealed that numbers of sexually exploited children helped by the charity rose by 377% in Wales, from 22 to 83, where the charity has become more active.
