Morality: coerced abortion versus speeding points Empty Morality: coerced abortion versus speeding points

Why is it that I am more outraged that Chris Huhne is alleged to have forced his wife into killing their child, even before it was born, than that he allegedly forced her to take her speeding points? One is perverting the course of justice; the other? Sadly the way we have become a society where children are killed because they have a cleft pallet or Downs Syndrome or are the wrong sex or are just 'inconvenient'! And Chris Huhne and the rest of the political establishment are complicit.

I would have expected you to be more outraged at the first than the second. As a religious leader I would have been horrified to think you found the speeding point issue more worthy of outrage.
He does not seem like a nice chap at all.
And I certainly agree that society seems to have lost its moral way with the political leaders being no example at all.

Of course some may feel that it might also have been a moral crime to bring a child up in a household like that!

Neither party in this case has covered themselves in glory.

I think it's right to be outraged on both issues.

To force a woman to have an abortion is wrong, plain and simple, and makes a mockery of the idea that an abortion is a 'womens right'.

On the case of jail for Huhne I tink people shouldn't be outraged about the original speeding crime, but they should be about trying to cheat the justice system.

At this moment in time the word "alleged" is very important.

Am I more concerned that a man might coerce his wife to have an abortion or that the wife (now ex) might falsely accuse him of it to bring him down?

I have to say the couple seem admirably suited to each other and it will be interesting to see how credible a witness she is perceived to be by the jury.

I agree JB. They seem to be admirably well-suited. I am amazed that the marriage failed!

Mind you, they say opposites attract but in this case, something other than this seems to be the case although I note that his current partner bears more than a passing resemblance to his ex.

(All this under the 'alleged' qualification, of course.)

Average by today's standards - the pair of them.
