Far too many cheats, scroungers and freeloaders in the country; MPs on massive pay-rises, big non-contractual pay-offs for BBC and NHS managers, incompetence bonuses and pay-offs for bankers etc. Massive tax evasion by Prince Charles via his corporation tax dodging Duchy of Cornwall scam.

What the government is asking for is for those at the bottom rather than the top, to lead by example.

The Prince of Wales is the biggest rogue. He pays income tax only on a purely voluntary arrangement and makes a fortune through property dealing. His justification? A dodgy deal dating from the mid-1300s. What happens? Parliamentarians queue up to grovel, doff their caps and thank him for his selflessness on the same day that benefits cuts kick in. Am I living in some sort of parallel universe? (Cue posters spluttering over they breakfasts pointing out what a great job the Royals do for the country by virtue of a pure accident of birth.)

We need to put the horse firmly in front of the cart here and start at the top. Far more of my tax goes on plugging the tax evasion gap than it does on supporting benefit cheats.

The PoW does not work as most of us understand it yet we continue to support him and his expanding family by tens of millions a year.

The point I am trying to make here is that tax avoidance\evasion etc to the tune of millions is seen as being a bit laddish or risqué.

Claiming benefits, even where is clear entitlement seem to make you a scrounger, parasite or general low life and enemy of the state. Somehow our priorities are very mixed up.

The whinging before the Commons Select Committee the other day was shallow and pathetic. How the hell can you give a state sanction to someone of noble birth to dodge paying millions in tax on the basis that he attends a few dinners and carries out some public functions yet castigates many thousands who need benefits and food banks to survive?

Yes, there is some 'wiggle room' for looking at benefits but let's start at the top.

Double standards par excellence.

Mind you, when we banned foxhunting, we had to replace it with some other forms of bloodsport I suppose.
