Died today aged 79.
What a fabulous actor and a great human being.
'Ever Decreasing Circles' was inspired. A really sad loss.

I loved The Good Life, but his Lear was excellent too.

Yes, I saw him at Stratford years ago doing Lear. Brilliant.
A very talented and gfted actor who made it all look so natural.
He was quite good in 'Monarch of the Glen' though that idiot Julian Fellowes screwed up every scene he was in.

A brilliant man and very gifted actor just so loved him in the Good Life one of the best such a sad loss but he left us with some very happy memories just thinking of him makes me smile
