The Miserables!
For years I have resisted seeing this "musical". I dont know why really, possibly my mothers constant recommendation had some small bearing. However this week in the interests of being a good daughter I took mum and my daughter to see the film. I am totally and utterly converted. The music is alternately heartwrenching, soaring, comedic and always beautiful. The performances by Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway are particularly heartfelt and meaningful. I cried (along with everyone else in the cinema) from 20 mins in until by the end (nearly 3 hrs) I had given up trying to cry discretely. I shall see a stage production as soon as I can, and buy the soundtrack even quicker.
If you havent been yet, my advice is to go. Dont wait til it comes out on dvd, see it in big screen with surround sound and loads of other weeping people!

I've always loved the music from this show but have never actually been to see it. My daughter-in-law went the other week and said she'd cried her eyes out too, along with most others who were watching.

If I want a good cry, I just get out my latest bank statement.
