Political parties being childish. Empty Political parties being childish.

After having a clear out at my home I had some stuff to get rid of. A neighbour of mine suggested I take some stuff to a gardening group in Milnrow. So with my good wife we took the stuff to this groups shop.

When we got there two people were stood outside the shop. One belongs to a Political party and active in his political party. I parked up and wound the window down and mentioned the stuff I had and did they want it. One person turned round and just looked at us and the political party member just kept his back to us. The other person just stayed quiet. So I shouted over to them in case they did not hear me and asked them did they want the stuff I came to give them. They both turned round and one did say " No thanks, we do not collect the items you have got,but thanks anyway". So that was ok and we will find another home for them. The person who belongs to a political party just stayed quiet and we both thought what an ignorant so and so.

We both know him and the only reason he has such a childish attitude because we did not agree with his political party a few years ago and would not vote for them. It is obvious he still held a grudge. Like my wife said he will be back at election time in the future and will be looking for our vote.

Sorry for telling you the boring details but what does get me about some of the politicians and the political activist in Rochdale is how they seem to throw the dummies out of the pram. There might have been a disagreement but be adult about it and agree to disagree.

It is no good sulking and do not speak for a couple of years and then come and knock on our door at election time pretending to be our mates creeping for a vote. That is because we will both remember how ignorant you were and will not get our votes. Remember our votes might be important in a close fought election.

We both thought the way this person acted is just what is not right about the political scene and the state of Rochdale at the moment and part of the reason why a lot of people do not vote. Yet will be coming to our front doors looking for votes. Though his party he represents will be reminded how he acted towards us and then tell them why we will not vote for them. Never ignorant or pretending to be deaf at election time!!!!

There is a councillor in the area I live and we have not always agreed with each other but at least he is civll and still says hello when passing, and at least answered our questions in the past. So it is obvious who will get my vote.

I always use the Rochdale Freegle site when I have things I no longer need but may be of use to others, its quick and simple and items are collected from your house.
There is also the option of you getting something you need off someone else who no longer needs it.
Everything must be free.

Lets be honest Teamplayer when have you ever known ANY political party in Rochdale to be anything more than childish and petty in the last few years in Rochdale.

As Ive said if all the Cllrs, activists were as passionate about Rochdale and its needs as they are when throwing mud at each other and wagging fingers at themselves, not to mention common sense, then we would have a fantastic town.

Again as Ive said many times before its a crying shame that numerous Councils have destroyed Rochdale . I have a lot of time for Cllrs that have actually helped me around the Borough so they may get my vote next time round. But I suspect that Lib Dems may be wiped out in the elections , maybe as a protest vote at grass root levels, at the way the top level Lib Dems sold out and lied for their chance at power. Which is the truth despite the usual suspects best efforts to spin it back onto AN Other parties.

Still in a few years they will all be sat in the local pub thinking what could have been.

They've already been wiped out. Down from being the controlling party to just five seats.

They just imploded. Liz Thirsk and one or two former RO posters did 'em no favours. The Balderstone campaign, in particular proved that there were no depths they wouldn't be prepared to stoop to.

It does seem to have slipped my mind. What happened in the Balderstone campaign?

Aye of course they are wiped out. I mean come the next election they will probably have no one left. Which is a shame as the Lib Dems had some good cllrs. I can only refer to those who helped me out. But thanks to the antics of the activists, not to mention the ex Lib Dems who went on a bit of a power trip the up coming election next year and the inevitable protest vote will ensure a couple more - if not all- the Lib Dems will lose their seats.

Then the usual bleatings will start and finger wagging will start.

Im off to Honest Frank to place a bet that the above will happen next year.

The biggest problem with the Lib Dems is they only see themselves as a right to have power and the public only matter when it comes to elections. After an election they discard what we think and do not contact you again until election time. Then when their antics catch up with them, they seem puzzled why no one voted for them.

Let us face it they sold their soul at national level to gain a scrap of power. Just ask the students who where let down.

You are right. There are good councillors... as well as bad ones, to be found in all the parties. Never been a Lib Dem fan but they have had some excellent councillors over the years. At the moment, they are running themselves ragged trying to cover all the council meetings and sub-committees between the five of them. As a party, they are a shadow of their former selves when Rochdale was described as 'a Lib Dem town'.

Andy Kelly and Dale Mulgrew are good chaps and work hard but they must be struggling with the workload,

The party was crumbling from the inside and although having the sitting MP and Dave Hennigan whipping them into shape, nothing lasts forever and all empires fall eventually as Labour will learn once more although its majority is far too large for them not to remain in power next May. Just do the maths if you don't believe me.

Hi Hinch

yes it was one of the Cllrs you have named that i was referring too. Cllr Kelly is very approachable and helpful and has got things done and can prove in and around Newhey and Milnrow

It would be a shame if he lost his seat next year through a protest vote or as a result of the antics by his party spindoctors etc

If ever a case for cutting down the number of councillors to 20 Rochdale council must rate as the main example for this to be done. I would struggle to argue we have a third of good and worthwhile councillors at present across all parties. Having said that Castleton has 3 so I’m okay.

I would like to see a true independent stand in every ward. If one was to stand in my ward they would get my vote.

I would like to see real change.
