Not so much avoidance as - manipulation -.
As per teamplayer2's comment didn't raise any eyebrows/ or comments. I will make the following observation on a new posting regarding 'tax avoidance,' which has now been supplanted, to some insidious degree, by 'tax manipulation' instead. It would appear that new tax closing loopholes, in order to stop 'avoidance', has opened up yet more loopholes for 'manipulation' with the result that even less tax will now be paid as a result.
In order for this government to encourage new industries the battle is on to reduce corporation tax by as much as possible. A laudable quest one might say. Ergo - new tax laws are in force and in progress to enable this outcome. So it's no more 'avoidance' but full steam ahead for greatly reduced unavoidable payments. And as for the international companies like Amazon and Starbucks - well we have to await the Europeans to 'all' agree and then implement something - er - sometime - er somehow - doh!
But, teamplayer2 - have you heard anything about all this at all ????? Or is it one of those 'State' requirements yet again - so as not to upset your sensibilities -???

Stop Press: Latest from our man in Westminster -: Attempts to reduce Corporation Tax from new low of 20% to 19% (in order to match that of Ireland) have been shelved due to - er - insufficient tax revenues for 2012. Rumour has it that it will be 'increased' to 21% for this fiscal period. Opps!!! Pressure on 'again' to reduce loopholes for tax avoidance.
Stop Press: Howls of indignation from CBI that not enough elasticity is being granted towards Corporation Tax thresholds - and what's wrong with avoidance anyway.
Estimates range from 40 billion to 100 billion pounds sterling per annum due to 'loopholes' in present tax laws on 'tax avoidance' schemes.
Will keep you posted.
