Deportations
There is talk of deportation back to Pakistan for some of the Rochdale men convicted of 'grooming'.
A look back shows hundreds of men were involved over years, very few were prosecuted, possible deportations are still in the midst of a disreputable legal quagmire.
Seems fair to say that despite the cries for justice, not a lot of justice actually happened. What we do have is the public given the impression the situation has been dealt with, and some change of mood and attitude. That change of mood and attitude is probably the most useful thing.

Re: Deportations
If that change helps to change their culture towards one that is acceptable to ours then all well and good. If not - they can all go back. We would have to acquiesce to their laws and customs in their country and they can bloody-well do the same here. We shouldn't allow ANY foreign laws either religious or political that do not correspond with ours. End of -.

Re: Deportations
Any change, if there is one, is in public mood. Actual change of culture seems less likely. There have been no known deportations of any of 'groomers', and unlikely there will be. The public hear the word 'deported' on t.v. and many assume it's 'real' news. It's spin, but maybe useful spin if it makes the public less tolerant of such 'grooming'.

Re: Deportations
I allude to the culture of 'grooming' in my book Ower Dabbling. It began in the form of organised prostitution in the 1960's when the new immigrants from Pakistan realised it was easy to obtain young white girls for a mediocre recompense. The present day grooming whereby the 'girl' is obtained and shackled by threat and favour is the product of evolution of the culture. One has to be aware that this sort of 'treat' isn't available to the young Pakistani at home (here) or in their own country as their culture absolutely forbids it. It is therefore obvious that if such a 'treat' becomes available without no sanction from their own society and culture it is going to thrive and proliferate. Only when the back-lash on their own community becomes severe enough will their own communities begin to put a stop to it themselves (or at least make some proper effort to report it). Not carrying out the ultimate sanction on these people will not satisfy us - but what the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't grieve over.

Re: Deportations
By "evolution of the culture", you might mean, development of 'business' methods?
Criminal groups and activities, when left to themselves over time, tend to mesh together, to grow, diversify, and dovetail into superficially legitimate activities.
When 'grooming' hit the headlines, it was described as being on an 'industrial' scale.
UK legal system, prison system, deportation system, the less we know about the state of them the happier we will be.

Re: Deportations
Culture I said and culture I mean. In Islam the non-believer is an infidel and therefore 'fair game'. The mere fact that the 'culture' helps towards the 'business' is purely fortuitous. In the eyes of many of these 'people' white girls are 'infidel trash' and to be used or abused as they see fit. Whilst they are aware it is against our 'infidel' laws it doesn't fall foul of their cultural beliefs and therefore can be considered as not against Islam or their faith. The mind-set of many of these 'blokes' lies quite peacefully serene as regards under-age sex with an 'infidel'. Shocked you may be - but ask any person dealing with these 'crimes' and covertly (because it's not PC) they would tell you the same thing.

Re: Deportations
That has beeen made unpleasantly clear, by events.
It does rather seem that deportation cases most in the public interest and attracting attention also attract most legal argument and procedure, becoming stalled and stalemated through many years and appeals.
Run-of-the-mill deportation cases, based on technicalities, of less social importance and interest go ahead more quietly and quickly.
Perhaps deportation has not been seen as a practical priority in recent years because it has apparently, been so easy for deportees to re-enter the country.

Indeed. It's what might be called 'a hollow sham'. Evolution might iron out some of the 'wrinkles' in man's psyche - but I wouldn't hold my breath. Meanwhile we punish the wrong-doer as per our laws and move on to the next case happy in the knowledge we are holding the lid down as best befits our purpose.

Re: Deportations
Deportation is only an option where the offenders are naturalized English and can have their naturalization removed. This is what has happened (with much kicking and screaming on the part of the lawyers) in this case, and deportation, as recommended by the trial judge may now take place.
What one does with offenders who are from a different ethnic culture but who are British by Birth (as many of the offenders were) is another issue entirely. where do we deport them to? Britain!

Re: Deportations
Yes Johnb, deportation of three of the Rochdale Groomers may take place, but only if yet more complex and international legal arguments and procedures are sucessful, so, it's a maybe, a maybe for an indeterminate time in the future.
As said before, deportation of people who don't particularly need deporting goes ahead quietly. Getting rid of dangerous, high profile criminals is a different matter altogether.
Why is that? Is an in-ter-e-st-ing question.

Re: Deportations
And the answer to your interesting question is - Because it's easy and costs far less and rarely hits the headlines. It's the States answer to everything. Keep it simple. Keep it quiet. Keep it cheap. Be like father - Keep Mum. The few don't matter as they have always been dispensable. - Ain't that a fact.

Re: Deportations
It might be a bit more complicated than that, but, who knows? Perhaps some lawyers like to build a reputation on such high profile cases.

But of course - that's par for the course. However - numbers are sacrosanct - ergo - easier the better and less traumatic for everybody concerned - well for the establishment at least.
