I wouldn't bank on that: -

BBC News - Kinky Knickers firm goes into administration

Mary Portas Kinky Knickers makers in administration | Business | theguardian.com
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/jan/17/mary-portas-kinky-knickers-makers-headon-quarmby-facing-administration

‘ Although not owned by Ms Portas, she was keen to use the factory in Middleton, near Rochale, as a base for her Great British Knicker Experiment TV series, where she took over part of the building to set up a new underwear business.

The TV series was a success – as well as netting Ms Portas around £500,000,' according to the media

There is usually some money to be made out of (other people's) failure and poverty, it's quite a profitable specialist industry.

Where there is unemployment, failure, poverty and so forth, it attracts funding intended to alleviate it. The use of that money one way and the other, to support pubic-private enterprises, workshops, projects etc usually gives someone an opportunity to make use of that funding, which seems to sort of disappear without much trace. While genuinely useful community projects often struggle for funds.

in a twist
On January 8,  just 7 days before the staff were told this business had gone into administration,  the chief executive and Labour leader of Rochdale Borough Council are featured in a story about the company - using words like fantastic and brilliant, with other talk of a textile apprenticeship academy,  ‘which will now also involve Rochdale borough’s Hopwood Hall College.’

So was this just a personal PR exercise for Mr Lambert and co ?      It makes even less sense when you consider: -
Former Rochdale MP Lorna Fitzsimons leads plans to crown king cotton again
Little over a year ago, media pronouncement that ‘ Cottonopolis is set to be reborn – with Rochdale at the heart of plans to revive Britain’s textile industry.’   It was presented as a big initiative, supported by The Greater Manchester Combined Authority … the ‘super-council’ made up of the region’s ten local authorities, along with government, Council chiefs, retailers, experts, manufacturers and Manchester University.

It was announced that Lorna Fitzsimons, the former Rochdale MP, had been brought on board as Project Director of these Greater Manchester proposals.

Haven’t heard a pesky thing since about this project!    Has anyone else?
Does anyone know where the RMBC media dept fits into all of this ?

Not the foggiest as you can imagine, but this speech by Natascha Engel

http://nataschaengelmp.wordpress.com/2014/01/22/nataschas-open-lecture/

Is a good description and account of similar and such obscurity and fuddle.
