Suicide blamed on spiralling depression after routine surgery

Body lay undiscovered in a living room for days because police failed to search her home properly after she was reported missing, an inquest was told.

Rochdale police Supt quote:

“The enquiries that were carried out to try to locate Victoria prior to her discovery on 1 September were subject of an investigation by the force’s Professional Standards Branch.”

The officer in question has now received words of advice over this.”

It seems like a dangerous fabrication to me for an officer to say he’d searched the ‘whole of the house and front and rear gardens,’ when this lady was reported missing, but in fact had only searched two rooms.   What's more it appears rare to read that a Coroner stated ‘disappointment’ with the ‘quality and calibre’ of an initial police hunt.
But the regulations and sanctions about police conduct all changed some years ago – it ‘ sounds like ’ this was classed as minor misconduct by a local investigating police officer.  Surprised

The depths of despair that may take people into researching or using a suicide clinic in Switzerland can be formidable; a tragic, compounded read ...

The advice probably consisted of, ”Ee lad. Try to keep a sharper look out in future now get thee down to the canteen and get us a couple of Hollands meat and tattie pies."

Hinch:    " Days of yore " speak above.     It's many a year since they had a Canteen in Rochdale Station, or at other stations in the GMP according to their walkabout staff and PCs.
Now one has several kitchen and DIY eating-only areas in Rochdale's refurbished building - healthy eating only too ... one suspects ...

Back to your subject:  Taylor Reforms - it seems the emphasis on police misconduct, performance and sanctions has shifted away from disciplinary and more to that of constables' "learning."

"Lessons will be learnt" on the menu, yet again
