Are your councillors worth extra money?
I hear by way of Facebook that it is recommended your councillors receive a pay rise. Not 3% or even 1% as most working people but - 34% - by way of an independent tribunal. Should I be asking in whose pocket this tribunal lies? Should I be asking why do already well paid employees (considering this is supposed to be a part-time job) warrant such rises in the face of 8 years austerity for the rest of the nation? And does this not go on to explain Brexit and the public's loss of faith in its administrators and others?

Nothing to do with BREXIT in my opinion. These wastrels would probably vote to leave anyway if they thought they could line their own pockets with it.
And for the record, I think this is monstrous and shows just how out of touch with reality our grass roots Trotskyist councilors are.

Only that I get a feeling johnb that some people who are absolutely at the end of their tether with the differentials and gross over -payments and pig-troughing by fat-cat administrators and CEO's etc etc may well have been swayed to blame the EU and it's thousands of administrators for these last few decades of inequailities and gone Brexit when had things been different over the decades and the differentials had been maintained or lowered they may not have.
As for your comments on grass-roots Trotskyists - well done.

No need to spend the extra money, grass-roots Trotskyists thrive perfectly well on hay over the winter.

Well I know from my Facebook that this proposed rise in pay has the whole of Rochdale tamping at the bit. I don't think that your councillors are out of touch at all. I do think that they couldn't care less what the residents think and that their greed will overcome any reasonable decisions they should have to make which will of course make them unreasonable if not almost criminal. But of course as they say - we are all in this together - only some of us are floating at the top instead of drowning.

The population of Rochdale that I've talked to have been watching an ongoing fiasco of anarchistic failure of local government with dismay for many a year now. The idea of a pay rise for the perpetrators may not appeal.

Your quote of 'may not appeal' seems a little understated. If insufficient people care then the abuse will continue and grow even more abusive. I suggest someone goes and break some windows and get the abusive behaviour brought to the general public's attention - as otherwise most obviously live in a bubble of indolence. Horse - stable door - horse - bolted.

My writing style may be understated, but, some are "BARKING" about it.
Asked to comment after the meeting closed, Councillor Farnell barked: "You were in the meeting weren't you? Take what was said there."

Re: Are your councillors worth extra money?
They could have refused to take the panels recommendation and refused the increase had they wanted to. For the most part they obviously didn't. In these times with all the cuts these people are nothing more than parasites. It's not as if they need the money. And they wondered why the referendum went the way it did???? I will repeat what I have said all along - these people are totally unfit for office, care nothing for the town and will walk away laughing at Rochdale's population. It's not far short of criminal and I haven't the slightest doubt that in some other countries their heads would have rolled. Obscene and deplorable.

That lady that used to post on here, the one that runs the massage parlour, she probably won't mind, she will just put up her prices.

Re: Are your councillors worth extra money?
The vast majority will simply grin and bear it because they feel nothing can be done about it. They are correct in that if they do nothing then nothing will be. I wouldn't like the situation to degenerate into peaceful demonstration being high-jacked by kids out for a good 'barny' - but it seems that such will eventually be the case before the powers that be take the slightest notice that people are getting very annoyed and actually 'do' something to redress the balances. Talk about not wanting to see the wood for the trees???? And simply putting up prices will reduce the countries capacity for growth which will be sorely needed over the next 2 decades.

Due to the freedom of information act, we see councillors are provided with free food and drinks at their meetings. Another F.O.I request might find the cost of the security needed to prevent the hungry and homeless from getting at the said food.

What's your job then?
I guard the food and drinks.
Yum yum, yum yum yum, yum yum, burp!

Someone might suggest troughs instead of plates as they would be far more appropriate. Your next local elections are May 2018. You should note the 4 councillors who voted against and remember all the rest when it comes around next time and a month before May 8th put large 'reminders' out across the borough with their names on and 'vote the obscene bastards out'. It won't put the genie back in the bottle or change the expenditures - but it will send a message to the 'new' councillors that 'theft' at a time of dire austerity will not be tolerated without heavy sanction.
