It was the organised mob that put Mussolini, Franco, Castro and Hitler into power - that or the organised military coup, which is virtually the same thing but with guns. Nationalism by the front door, i.e. in a democracy, is usually attained by playing on emotions of loyalty and tribal fervour, offering jam today and jam tomorrow. The trouble with that is the 'mob' then expect the rewards which more often than not cannot be given which leads the elected power structure to become more and more dictatorial in its efforts to satisfy the mobs demands, which leads ultimately to criminal activities (in the guise of 'for the good of the nation') and hence to uncontrollable catastrophic events. It is a very bad 'form' of politics and rarely has a satisfactory outcome. It's dangerous in the wrong hands. And 'man's' hands are most certainly not to be trusted.
