An ex Labour whip says,

"I know MPs where basically there is a process of harassment, where at every meeting they are criticised, they are challenged, they are told that they don't represent the people in the room.

"And all this is meant to do is grind them down, is wear them down, and get them to believe they shouldn't be in the Labour party any more."

Then stay out of them - - - . Simples. You refer to the 'activists' on the far left and the far right whose policy has always been shout the man down and out and leave the field clear for your own reinforcements. It's a Marxist trait and well known to most over 40. That's why the under 40's can be lulled by such disingenuous rhetoric and why it is dangerous to afford the young too much leeway to vote too early. My advice to those MP's - resign, re-group, and come back with more genuine policies. There are for example sufficient right leaning Labour MP's to form another party at least as strong and more electable than Corbyn's momentum movement will ever be. But they need a charismatic leader with a fire in his belly - oooops there goes the whole idea - - - - - - - . Meanwhile, as much as the Cons are split, it still leave the field wide open for them to create mayhem. Cleft stick comes to mind. Twisted Evil

The sort of interpersonal nastiness Hilary Armstrong describes within politics is very off-putting and counter-productive. Especially at local politics level it can mean that those people who are best, most persistent and practiced, at being nasty rule the agenda.

That's the price politics and we have to take for centuries of disingenuous rule by the wealthy and most well-heeled. It's the politics of the 'mob'. The rabble-rousers and the deviants. When the masses no longer have any trust left in their rulers they turn towards those who scream and shout the loudest. Deference and humble acquiescence have been replaced by the anti-social aspects of the 'main-chancer' and his or her rhetoric and abuse. The PC brigade are its unwitting flag bearers and assist the 'cad' towards destroying his opponents by 'outlawing' logical, realistic and rational comment under the guise of political correctness and politeness. We sew what we reap-.Sad
