Re: For all you trainspotters
This is one of the best railway programmes I have seen in recent years. Although I am a 'chuffer-nutter' I do get tired of seeing the same old stock footage and unimaginitive camera shots with nothing new or original to say. This is a really sharp, interesting programme'
This is a massive project and the Welsh Highland Railway is a marvellous asset. The programmers have taken the time to get some great characters; the anti's as well as the pro's and it really explores the impact of the WLR on the whole community. (I did think that some of the farmers were trying to milk the 'impact on the environment' angle a bit too much; no doubt being mindful of a bit of compo in the offing.)
I have watched them build this line over the past 3-4 years. It goes through some astounding terrain and the locos and rolling stock are some of the best-maintained I have ever seen.
Conversely, although I like Dan Snow, I find his Locomotion series uninspiring and has nothing new to say. Standard fare!
As for Michael Portillo, he certainly knows how to camp it up. I love some of his jackets but his idea of colour-coordination leaves much to be desired.
