I notice there are some 'hidden' people and some 'guests' hovering around this site. Where have you put the de-cloaking button Hinch? Who are they - and more to the point - WHAT DO THEY WANT?????????

The odd councillor and RMBC Officer I suspect Atlas plus some of the 'hidden ones' are probably registered members who may choose not to advertise when they come on or at what time. I think you can chooses to be 'hidden' via the profile options.

A friendly Google-Bot hovers overhead also from time to time I think.

I check what is going on most days - but only log on when
a) I can remember my password
b) have the time to respond
c) can find my inclination

It is usually a) which stops me most times Smile

Um! tricky one this one, how do you know they are hiding if you can't see them, not wishing to look an idiot? Embarassed

A very apt description of the Guest hoverers Very Happy

Stick an "s" onto Officers for reality, as there's a notion in some quarters that Blog and Forum comments reflect aspects of that establisment byeword: "local community cohesion," and reading is therefore part of remunerated 'jobs.'

Given that a few regular Posters seem to have vaste swathes of day and night times to 'claim' their authority on some topics (debate might appear too subtle a description ) ... perhaps even driven by their own goal of being promoted-highlighted for the sheer number of remarks they document ... these Establishment Guests could potentially become delusional.

Hmm. I am taking all comments under careful consideration and scrutiny whereupon I will respond in due course. Meanwhile - I never log on when I come on the site. Didn't know you had to. How do I do that? Is it called automatic acceptance as a long standing club memeber? scratch

I dont usually have to log in, I clicked the 'keep me logged in' button
The only time I have to log back in is if my PC has crashed for whatever reason.

I am usually logged on permanently, if my laptop is on. Trouble is this gives the wrong impression to people who monitor how much time I spend on here, assuming I am on when I am not.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't most of these forums have a functionality to switch to stop the lurkers? i.e- you must be registered to read.
It might be worth switching on and at least it gives them another hurdle to jump over to snoop Question

We WANT people to see us and perhaps join if they are interested. We don't just want to be a small club muttering to each other in the dark.

Most of our posters were just guests or hidden at one time.

Good luck to them.

It's a valid point too Admin. I must confess, I am guilty myself of reading without logging in the odd time when I'm on an alien machine or in a strange place alien

I should of course add that guests have very limited access and cannot access profile information or email addresses.

I can see these but cannot see what people write in PMs to each other.

I think most of the members do look in now and again with out revealing themselves. Just to look and see the answers to the topics or latest news.

If councillors are watching I wish they would join in. Surely there is nothing to hide. Smile bounce
