First let me say that no rape is acceptable or the vicims fault in any way.

BUT.... I dont think that getting into a car with a stranger whilst drunk, at nighttime, is looking after your own safety. I wonder how much notice girls/woman take of advice given intended to help them protect themselves. Or ,sadly, do they all just think, "it`ll never happen to me."

Very sad and horrific incident. Sadly it shows what can happen when under the influence of booze. Often people lose all sense they might have had, and also they don't realise previous dangers.

Sadly Dear Heart, when drunk, all rational thought re accepting lifts from strangers and needing to use contraception tends to fly out of the window. (Though being subjected to rape rarely allows you the opportunity to practice some contraceptive methods.)

Disgusting to think that there are prowlers out there cruising around awaiting an opportunity.

At least this poor victim had the guts to go to the police. Not all do.
