Am being a cheapskate this Xmas and making loads of pickles to give away as presies. Presently making two kilos of lime-pickle so if you have any glass storage jars you don't want, please get in touch. Would prefer the sort I can sterilise and seal. Ta.

There has just been an item on breakfast tv reminding people you are lible to a fine of up to £5K for re-using jam jars and others not made specifically for re-use!
What rubbish!
That means more glass being manufactured, more resources wasted and what happened to the big drive on reycling and re-using things whenever possible?
So Hinch, your lime pickle is going to cost you a fortune in new jars Shocked
If you continue to re-use jars and get caught, I'll be in the next cell as I fully intend to re-use my jars too!

I bought 6 from one of those Home Bargain stores for 99p each. Just the job.

I do find that re-using old jam jars is ok for a few weeks or a couple of months but not for much longer.

99p each for a jar makes making your own jam uneconomic though doesn't it.
