People's Art
I went down to check out this year's People's Art exhibition at Touchstones (and not just because I've got a piece in...).
There's some very impressive work on display, a real testament to the talent that this town has - I don't think there's a spare piece of wall free in the two galleries it's displayed in.
It's absolutely well worth a visit.
Re: People's Art
And so despite all the traumatic grumblings and rumblings on this forum early last year about unfair cut-backs from the Arts & Entertainments budget the town can STILL put on a 'worthwhile a visit' exhibition of the populaces talents in the galleries?

I think most of the grumblings were more directed towards the lack of facilities and opportunities, rather than the talents within the borough.

Agreed Anexium. The only real lack of talent I see and comment on are that which exists in the Council Chamber and on associated bodies such as TCM.

Good coverage in the Rochdale Observer about the Peoples Art at Touchstones.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit there. Even bought one of the exhibits - although a print not the original

In a related manner, The Rochdale Literature Festival has announced it's photo competition winners (disclosure: I'm one of the chosen photographers). These pictures are now gonna be used as inspiration pieces for their poetry comp and the whole lot will be going on display at Touchstones from around the 23rd November.

Interesting. I've written two poems for the competition, not sure if I will enter any of them though. I am curious as to whether or not I've chosen one of your photos.

I suppose I should have declared a favourite before I asked because now you will probably doubt me when I say that is a favourite. I loved the sky and moor in the photograph, alas not the wind farm.
Hope you win the competition.

Cheers Spartacus. And I'll take all compliments on my work.
The windfarm has a certain brutal beauty but I'm not sure if atop the hills is where it's best located. But from a photographic viewpoint it's a counterpoint against the hills.
Re: People's Art
Good luck anexium from a fellow person who has won a few photographic prizes in competitions in the past. I would like to see your photograph you have entered. I must try entering again.
