Did anyone see this last night? It came in from the southern sky at about 11pm and looked as if it may have impacted somewhere near Great Harwood. Not heard anything on the news yet. It was an amazing sight and no, I wasn't drunk.

We were sat in the Griffin in Haslingden by the big picture window and had a great view. Quite a few customers saw it also.

Some bits definitely grounded or broke up not far to the north of where we were.

Hmmm... according to NASA reports quoted on BBC R4, they now think it was 'space junk' that started burning up on re-entry. It had a brilliant, long orange tail and seemed to be composed of different bits. Those stood outside the pub said that there was 'rushing' noise and a 'crackle' as it passed overhead.

We rushed outside but it had passed over to the north by then.

Never seen anything like it.
