And not for a week for the sake of a tv programme, lets see him do it for at least 6 months with no back-up.

He apparently did a similar thing for a week once for TV where he was supposed to stay with a family but cried off due to his wifes illness (that didnt stop him from doing his parliamentary duties or was ever mentioned again)

Easy to live on benefits for a week or so when you know you've got your big house and even bigger salary to go back to. The trick is trying to replace your cooker and fridge etc when they break down or replacing you kids clothes, buying school uniforms etc without falling into the hands of Bright Homes, wonga.com and all the other loan-sharking parasites.
This is just cheap, meaningless TV with no real point to make.
This swarmy Tory git would spend more than £53 on a decent bottle of claret to go with his Sunday lunch.

Kids nobody. He knew. We knew. The whole world knew he couldn't even as he said it. But it was a silly question to have been asked in the first place - because (in this country) the answer would always be NO. It's not about living. It's about surviving. And most could,just about, survive on £53 a week - and quite a number do. The real question is - SHOULD THEY HAVE TO? When some are on half a million a week and a lot more on a deacreasing amount hitherto thereafter. It's about 'FAIRNESS'. It's about SHARING THE COUNTRY'S WEALTH' in an equitable manner considering that the wealth couldn't be generated in the first place without all the rest of us contributing their own particular 'BIT'. It's about - HAVING A WORKABLE, CONTENTED SOCIETY Mr Ian Duncan Smith. - - - - - But who is listening??????????

Believe it or not Old Regulator, I was talking to a bloke in the Todmorden Wetherspoons last week. I was wearing a Billy Bragg T-shirt and on the basis of that he came over talking to me about him.
"That was one of the best he ever wrote... That 'Internationale' one." He was quite delusioned when I told him the history of the song and that Mr Bragg had done nothing apart from write a grotesque and unneccesary update of the timeless lyrics.
Mind you, I like the version that starts, "Arise, ye starvelings from your slumbers..." A bit more poetic than 'workers'.

Thank you gentlemen for your praises - however - before you grant me the Order Of Lenin or some other worthwhile (if you live in Russia) accolade please be advised that I do not, nor have I ever, aspired to the communist socialist doctrines as laid down by some of our forebearers. I am a democrat, perhaps that should read social democrat and I believe in the divisions of labour always and providing that it is done in a reasonable equitable manner. Likewise the divisions of wealth. Should such ever come about in this fair land of ours I can see a good future for it. Otherwise - - - -.
It's time for 'strong leadership' but of the kind that takes fair value in to mind. I don't like slackers. I don't like grabbers. I don't like cheats and I don't like liars. And most of all I don't like a system which allows the rich to get richer at the expense of the poorer. We all have a job to do (if we had a fairer system) and I would expect all to participate towards the same end. A good healthy life. C'ause there's bugger all else either before or after it.
