How very patronising/ embarrassing and complete waste of money & time ! we all know were the stickers will end up just adding more rubbish to our already unclean streets.

Re: What a load of rubbish !
It's the economics of the mad - house. We save money by laying off the bin men then spend it on having to tip more land-fill because of the backlog and contamination produced by the lay-off??????????? What the f*** is that about????????????? Idiots.
Incompetance doesn't cover it.
As for contamination in bins, the answer is simple - Don't empty them. Yes. A bloody mess for a short time. But stinking rubbish is quite a trusty weapon when on one's own doorstep. It won't be long before the 'rest' get fed up and do something themselves about it. It's called 'hard lessons'. And it works.

Stop being nannies, they know who is and who isn't re-cycling so just deal with them who aren't and stop wasting time, effort and money .
Just do it, what is your problem

I agree Jeanie, they DO know exactly where the rogue households are.
It is no happy coincidence that first areas to be trialed are Wardleworth and Kingsway!

Mind boggles at this.
I can see all these leaflets blowing about in the wind before too long.

'We need to save money' cry Rochdale Council. So we will spend money on a rubbish idea. You could not make it up.

This pathetic idea has even made the newspapers, complete with an obligatory picture of a referee holding a red card.
Once again our Council has given us the wrong sort of headlines, again.
Again RMBC has shown its utter disregard for us

Bin day for the Kingsway area today....I noticed several orange jacketed Council workers walking the length of Albert Royds Street today, knocking on doors. I also noticed several bins toting the 'Red Card' and some pretty pee'd off looking bin men!
Good luck to 'em though....they'll need it in this area, they don't give a s**t for recycling!

Re: What a load of rubbish !
On a more positive note though, I have been told by a contact at RMBC that several households on the offending row of properties near me that have been throwing out mounds of household rubbish for months (including nappies) have received fixed penalties through their doors. One offender has actually been in and paid and surprise, surprise.... no more rubbish has appeared in the last couple of weeks.
Let hope it all stops now it is hitting their pockets!

Re: What a load of rubbish !
I would concur with your 'hopes' Poppyanna555. But would raise the question as to why do we, in this country, put up with 'crap' for a year and a day before doing anything about it? There would have been no warnings or red-cards or anything else on the continent. First offence and 'bang' your fined and, if the fine isn't paid, it's added to the rates bill and if that isn't paid, in full, it's arrested and kept in until someone turns up with the cash. They don't mess about being Mr Nice Guy and tut-tutting.

I totally agree Atlas....and my 'hopes' were short-lived, one of the usual offenders have once again dumped a black bag full of food cartons out onto the back once more, and I know it is one of the 'usual' offenders because of the nature of the packages......hey ho!
