Having never encountered such natural features in close proximity before, the people of Rochdale have no resistance to the lure of rippling waters and feel a deep primal urge to fling themselves in.

It's only new toy syndrome. The lunatics will stop parading when they get fed up with it. Meanwhile Rochdale has an opportunity to promote itself and enhance its reputation as a nice place to visit IF the council continues to exploit and add to the re-opening of the river and riverside amenities and activities along with its huge historical heritage. They - some of them - don't know what a gold mine they have.. But first methinks they may have to import some 'brains' and passion.

It would appear more lunatics from the fringes of the town are making their way into the river - and I do mean 'in' to the river. As usual there does not appear to be anything being constructively done to dissuade such cretins from their aquatic antics and as usual the costs of 'rescue' are being heaped upon the shoulders of everyone else. Hello Rochdale Police - - - such behaviour is disturbing the peace and costing money to be wasted and possible real emergencies not being dealt with promptly. Get your blasted fingers out and start doing your job by arresting and dealing with these cretins properly -. Or is that specifically beyond Rochdale policing -?????????
