Re: Jimmy Savile
Indeed, where was the press, in investigating their friend Saville, yet they are now attacking the BBC.
There has to be a proper deep, root and branch investigation into this sordid crime of any suspected act by every well known sport star, pop/rock star, celeb, politician, etc. Basically it seams that the rich, powerful and famous can and do get away with crimes that others can't and it has to stop.

I have paperwork from the time.
NOTHING was done, it was all swept under the carpet.
I know exactly what went on as my son was a pupil there
That's because like the boys of Cambridge House and the victims of the child sex grooming they were seen as not worth it in regards to being treated seriously. It's no wonder the rich and powerful feel they can get away with disgusting acts.

At least one of the Cambridge House boys is still too scared to talk about it... allegedly.

Difficult to take on the untouchables, Hinch, whether they are alive or dead, as they have friends in high powerful places.
Be interesting to see if the ex Tory minister's case will be reopened. According to an ex detective, they were told not to press ahead with investigations.

Now Dotors who supported him are now being investigated. Some names in show business are being investigated. A person who had links to 10 Downing Street are being investigated. Looks like it is not just Rochdale that had a bunch of perverts working in a gang is it.

Re: Jimmy Savile
There are 'perverts' everywhere. Always have been, always will be. Survival has many facets for those who fall foul of the 'great and good' (of which in reality there have been very few). It's easy to condemn those who 'lack the gonads' to come forward at the time - but not if you have been one of them. The 'cowards' are those that know and had the knowledge and who could (given a little brain power) have 'spiked' such goings-on without necessarily exposing themselves to any danger. People don't care. When the chips are down it's 'not my concern' is the usual format - ergo - nothing will change. The rats will go back underground for a short time until we all forget this 'present' unpleasantness and fifty years from now we shall have another 'Savilegate' regardless of all the hand-wringing and affronted sensibilities. Because that's the way it is.

Re: Jimmy Savile
The sad fact is that victims had been complaining to the police since 1980's and nothing was done. Puts paid to the people who said they should have come forward when he was alive.

What makes it worse it was the authorities involved that always said report any abuse or concerns even in the 1980s. They did report the abuse and nothing was done.

Re: Jimmy Savile
Former Court of Appeal judge Dame Janet Smith has begun a review into the culture and practices of the corporation during Savile's time at the BBC.
She was in charge of the Shipman Inquiry. Although that was a huge and difficult Inquiry and she had a good try at it, it wasn't really all that successful.

Re: Jimmy Savile
What happened in Todmorden was never properly brought to light. Dame Janet Smith made a good attempt at the Shipman investigation, but these type of Inquiries become so cumbersome and involved that a line has to be drawn at what is expedient rather than revealing the full facts.
While Shipman was convicted of 15 murders, the inquiry established that he probably committed 250 in total, though the true number could be more. The Inquiry took approximately 2,500 witness statements and analysed approximately 270,000 pages of evidence. The investigation cost £21 million.

THE BBC has banned Children in Need’s Pudsey Bear from being alone with kids over fears of “improper conduct” accusations.
Dozens of Beeb staff nationwide are expected to dress up as the mascot and his pal Blush for Friday’s TV charity spectacular, hosted by Terry Wogan.
The BBC’s guidelines include not initiating hugs because “a handshake or a wave is better”.
The bears should also keep hands visible in pictures and never be left alone with children.

And beware of that big flap at the back of Pudsey's bear-suit. It should be firmly secured with security-tape at all times and be in full view of the cameras.
I've never felt comfortable about that guy with his hand up Sooty's arse either. What's the other hand up to I ask!
The sound of stable-doors slamming eh?

A year of very BIG highs and very low lows for the 'Big Hairy Cornflake'.
Last year he was chatting away with on the world stage with Aung San Suu Khi when she recalled the days listening to his Radio Show whilst under house-arrest, when he helped her to keep a sense of purpose and perspective whilst now.... well... errr....

I have memories of TOTP of these 'loony' DJs with their arms around slightly cringing and shrinking young girls...

Yes, the Christmas ones were particularly cringeworthy.
All that tinsel, mistletoe and glittery balls hid a multitude of sins. And as for the man with the bulging sacks, the less said about him, the better!
