Heads held high Empty Heads held high

So, according to Cameron our mission in Afghanistan is accomplished and our troops can come home next year "with heads held high".  (Apart from the 400+ killed that is.)

  • We will be 'handing over' a country still at war.
  • The Taliban is still active and the main damage to them was carried out in US drone attacks in Pakistan not by our ground troops.
  • Despite our objective to eradicate the poppy cultivation in Helmand Province, this year has seen a bumper harvest.
  • We have achieved no strategic objectives or advantage whatsoever.

Mission accomplished?  Define 'accomplish'.  What a waste of lives, time and money.

A disaster for all concerned and very worrying for anyone who the Taliban doesn't approve of, e.g all women, when we leave them alone again.

At least David didnt land on an Aircraft Carrier, oh wait do we have one, and proclaim this under a banner. Oh sorry that was George Bush Jnr.

I have always questioned why we are in this conflict in the first place.

As Hinch has said we have not got any objectives what so ever. Our name (UK) will be added to the infamous list of failed mission. Just under Russia and USA.

Most things in politics and war (and especially when the two are mixed together) are rarely what they seem to be. What you may think you know you probably don't and what you assume will invariably be wrong. I think I will leave it at that. Safe to say - the job was done. A job it is safe to say you would never have agreed with in the first place. So why involve you or tell you? And if you think that is rubbish you really need to read a lot more. Fair fortune. Wink Smile
