Link-4-Life
I've been looking at the Link4Life website with a view to joining, the problem is I dont want to commit for a full 12 months.
I have spoken to some other people who say the same, if there was a 3 or 6 month package I'm sure they would get more people signing up.
I rang the Link4Life office and there are no plans in the foreseeable future to make any changes allowing membership for less than 12 months.
Of course there is the pay-as-you-go option, but its more expensive, plus the fact I think if someone is signed up and committed for 3 or 6 months they would be more likely to turn up.

I think some gyms use to do the short term memberships but it may not pay for them to do that now. Though during this economic climate perhaps a short term membership is at least getting some money than none at all.
The gym I joined is for at least twelve months but I have heard rumours that it may not be open not long around Christmas. As a fitness chain it is under severe financial pressure. Lesson to be learned there perhaps Charly on your idea.

The term of membership aside, I think what you get at Link4Life health and fitness centres is an absolute bargain. The use of 4 centres including swimming, gym equipment and fitness classes all day every day for something like £28 maximum per month is great.
