An increase in the civil list payments, from us tax payers, probably to follow. It won't just be £20 per week child benefit, but probably thousands, unless they themselves fund the child. Of course this will be used by the politicians to sway people's attention away from the economy, lack of jobs , MPs expenses etc, now at the announcements, and then when the baby is born.

And yes I am a anti monarchist, also someone who is fed up at this privileged family living the high life at our expense.

If the Royal family was a group of whales in the north sea, you would be singing a different song, Up the Dale.

Kate has been admitted to hospital with acute morning sickness, and is expected to stay for several days. I expect she is in BUPA.

IF they were a group of whales they wouldn't be needing any support from us, if left alone!! Saying that whales ans indeed all animals are in my opinion more important than the Windsor family.

Your plan to turn Buckingham Palace into an animal sanctuary is in the early planning stage?

Ha,ha you are such a comedian, not that good though.

Buckingham Palace would be a very good old people's, or homeless hostel, if not sold for the public purse.

The only good thing I see happening as a result of this Windsor Family pregnancy is the possibility of another public holiday.

Yes, hope Kate feels better now, feeling nauseous is horrid. The babe if all goes well will be third in line for the throne. Royals are all right as long as there aren't too many of them, a one in, one out arrangement might suit.

In that case the whole building will have to have a full central heating refit and be updated, for some the more deserving elderly or homeless people.

When did you go to Buckingham Palace, when you got your MBE?

So who do you propose we get rid off? I can think of a dozen, but would not like to see them replaced.

Well theres me thinking a nice happy post would be really good. A bit of good news amongst all the doom of gloom of economy and job losses.

Doubtful we will have a new Bank Holiday. But theres no harm in an extra days holiday.

Well done to the happy parents to be.

Congratulations to the Royal Couple!

*cheers*

*pours a glass for Up the Dale and all forum members*

Come on now, Up the Dale. They had no control over the family they were born into the same as the rest of us. There will always be an elite despite dreams of a Utopia. It's the gap between those at the bottom and those at the top that's the enemy. If the monarchy was to go they would just be replaced with a bunch of politicians, far worse in my opinion.

Wills and Kate are human like the rest of us and celebrating the news of their first child. Let's be happy for them.

At least with an elected head of state we can get rid of them every few years, and usually it's cheaper than having royal families. Of course Elizabeth Windsor, or any of her family would be able to stand for election as President, if we ever become to have an elected President.

Successive governments have allowed the gap between rich and poor to grow due to being in the pockets of the wealthy, which includes the Windsors, one of the wealthiest and influential families in the UK. In fact due to their privileged position they have more influence than your average MP.

This couple will be able to have as many children as they want, and know that in the end we will pay for them, unlike ordinary families.
If people want to celebrate with them then good for them, but those of us who are republicans, will not be celebrating, and my guess is the majority don't really care either way.

On a personal level I have no problems with the couple, but as a Socialist and democrat I can not support the monarchy.

Good luck to them, of course. Having children is one of the best things that can happen to any couple, Apart from that I really don't have much of an opinion. I'd rather have a president but not that bothered. There will always be those at the top taking from those at the bottom whoever it is up there. The thing I can't stand is the nauseating fawning over the royals, as if they are actually better than us.

I can't see what all the cuffuffle (can't find the spelling for that) is about? This child is somewhat unlikely to 'mount' the throne of Great Britain. Do the maths. More than likely to be his/her own children as things are going. Wink

I see the King Edward VII Hospital for Officers was the butt of a practical joke by some Aussie DJ's pretending to be the Queen.

I pity the poor bloody nurse who gave out the information!

One of them was in the background yapping and pretending to be a corgi.

The nurse who was pranked and gave out information on the pregnant Kate has been found dead in an apparent suicide.
How sad is that, surely it wasnt that important

Oh my God! I wish I'd have been her trade union rep. I'd have got her off with a verbal or perhaps a 1st written warning.

What a terrible yet trivial thing to die for... although the poor woman must have felt as if the world had ended. How bloody terrible for her family.

I wonder how the Aussie DJs are feeling?

Seems like they didn't think this one through and consider potential consequences based on worst-case scenarios.
