Re: Horsemeat.
A D.E.F.R.A. investigation into the horsemeat scandal finds a highly organised criminal network, a failure of the authorities to understand or deal with it, and no prosecutions have been made.
Everything ticking over as normal then.

Re: Horsemeat.
There has surely been massive and decisive action on this Cyfrifia?
Politicians have been queuing up by the dozen to make firm, resolute statements on the subject in order to revive their flagging careers. Scientists and veterinarians have achieved valuable air time and media coverage reassuring us that meat is either safe or unsafe depending who is paying them.
Supermarkets have run slick advertising campaigns bringing much needed cash to the newspaper industry and promoting their bone fides as responsible custodians of our health, wellbeing, customer relations and PR.
Now we can buy our meat in confidence knowing that it probably come from some sort of four or perhaps two legged animal, rodent or reptile having been reared on a British farm if not some other country.
The only heads that were ever going to roll here belonged to the poor beasts heading for the abattoir..

Tons of contaminated meat from Bradford. What can you say? You wouldn't want to make a meal of it.

This contaminated food would be "fit only for the fires of hell". Which may be a way of saying it would be ok in a hot curry?

Re: Horsemeat.
The trouble with these meat scams is that when one person finds out how to scam the lackadaisical system, they tell their friends and families how to do it.
Mohammed Ajaib Khan, of Burnley, was one of nine men involved in recovering tax from HMRC for slaughter work they claimed had been carried out at an abattoir in Ossett, West Yorkshire.
Ex-butcher and ringleader Kaiser Matlub (47) of Sheffield, had shared the scam with friends and family, Leeds Crown Court heard.
For a fee, he guided them through the process, advising them how to register for VAT as butchers and carry out their own versions of the fraud.
The nine had all registered for VAT as sole proprietors at some point between 2005 and 2010 claiming to trade as butchers and legitimate meat wholesalers who had purchased standard VAT-rated slaughtering services from the abattoir.
