Happy Rapping memories
I have been lent 50-odd copies of RAP by a forum member and have just read them all. Wow!!!! What memories. Loads of typos in every issue and apologies galore but what a great read.
I know they gave Cyril a hard time but it was nothing compared to what they dished out to Arthur J Cleasby, former Labour councillor and Chairman of Rochdale Health Authority. What a scoundrel!
As for their exposes of Turner Bros Asbestos, brilliant investigative reporting.
Think I'll reprint some of their gems on here. First issue was November, 1971.
Saddest thing was that the RAP years witnessed the death of the cotton industry. Thomas Robinsons and a whole load firms we thought would last forever like John Brights, Whipp and Bourne. As for the industrial relations problems at Woolies, the mind boggles.

Re: Happy Rapping memories
It becomes obvious reading it that half of the secretaries at the Town Hall and in local businesses kept RAP well supplied with dirt.

You already had my 'Cyril Smith' copy which I trust you have lovingly secured for posterity. The 'rest' I keep close to my bosum for 'possible' future revelations - hee hee hee -

Have no fear Atlas, it is safely and lovingly stored in my nuclear attack-proof bunker along with the drawing for your steam loco.
