Hardly news is it? Two asians sexually assaulting a young woman who was trying to catch a bus in the town centre. That's just a perfectly normal afternoon in Rochdale isn't it?

I bl**dy well hope not thats its a perfectly normal afternoon!

Although over in Manchester a 14 year old has pleaded guilty to five sexual assualts. So it could be a pefectly normal day in the North West. Personally i like to think this digusting crime is exception to the rule rather the norm. But based on past events I'm very concerned at all the Asian attacks on women/children of Rochdale.

So i think this is vitally important news regardless of past cases. It alerts women that there is sick idivduals roaming our Town carrying out sick assaults.

A bit further out of town, a man in his 20's, white and skinny, sexually assaults a 12 year old schoolgirl on her way to school in the morning.

Is Rochdale really as bad as it's painted for sexual assaults?

They do seem to be a very regular feature in the local news.

Statistics show Sex assualts are on the up. Also yesterday it was reported a man was raped in a Bolton Park. I suspect that if you do a google search on these types of horrific crime will show atacks across the UK let alone Rochdale. I think it is the fact that we have history of sex child abuse whch is horrific enough . But the very people that were meant to help could not be ar$%d!!and in fact added to the abuse time period.

So now everytime there is an attack of this type it will get reported as such due to our history. Besides I think these attacks should be reported to warn oter men and women there are sickos out there. So as bad as this sounds, I dont think we have more than our fair share of attacks its just that this sort of crme will be picked up upon and reported due to Rochdales legacy.

Misnomer could be a polite retort to such an inappropriate topic title.

I do think such attacks should be reported, but in a far more timely manner. We read a local news report on 22nd October that ‘ police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward ’ about a sexual assault incident that occurred on 18th September ! . Rolling Eyes

Perhaps the "misnomer" heading would be better with a question mark.

A perfectly normal afternoon in Rochdale?

The report is of lewd comments and intimidation leading to physical and sexual assault.  These  unpleasant and dangerous sort of people seem to be a feature not just of the 'nightime economy', but a normal hazard, during the daytime, in the town centre.

The header is meant to highlight and question the apparent normality of this sort of behavior in the town centre. Your remark, Mojo, about the time delay seems to bear out this ' just as normal' impression.

Yep Mojo Hill we need a faster response in appeals for information instead of a months delay.

The town of Rochdale is getting worse. Now another news story in Rochdale about sexual attacks. With perverts who have been jailed and an ex dodgy dead Lib Dem MP who is also accused, Rochdale appears to be a magnet for them. Coming from all communities. How many have been jailed for sexual attacks, or how many attacks have been reported in the media in recent years. Appears to be one hell of a lot.

Cyfrifia: I see you've now edited your subject title to make it a question.

My remark about timely reporting has nothing to do with any 'normal' impression or assumptions made.

It did, however, reflect what seems to be odd media practice by the GMP, when someone there decides that publicity about two separate sexual assaults, separated by many weeks, is released for public information at the same time.

The implication is, that someone in the Police gets round to sorting out the sexual assault paperwork every now and then, in the normal course of events; and would only make an urgent press release for something out of the normal run of events.

Not good enough is it.
