Police Appeal
Just read that 2 front doors were set alight and a Toyota Land Cruiser car on Vivian Street, Deeplish ...Police are asking for information.
A family with small children are living in one of the properties and could have been trapped, whatever next?!!
This form of anti-social behaviour is despicable, let's just hope it is not the start of a new trend....disgusting!

A 'new trend'? Happened to me in 1970. Oh no - nothing new in that one dear friend.

Re: Police Appeal
The police are appealing for information ??? We as a neighbourhood give them enough to chop down half a forest, when written down, but they still seem unable / unwilling to act.
We tell them about drug dealing, burglary, speeding, selling to kids under age and the latest of which being a 20+ strong group of youths most nights outside the off-licence, standing yelling at each other until the early hours of the morning and urinating on streets (this is why we still need youth clubs so they have somewhere to go).

That's about a quarter of a mile away from where I live Jeanie....little wonder I don't venture out after dark!
And no, I don't believe for one minute that crime is going down either.....
And Voddie....tell me about it, we are still wrangling with the authorities to clear our streets of drug dealers and scrotes in general, have been for the past 6 years

Re: Police Appeal
I don't disagree with your desire to have 'Youth Clubs'. They will take a certain type of youngster away from the street. There will remain however,(going off experience), a certain element that will treat such establishments with utter disdain, even to the point of rebellion, and who will prefer the streets and the freedoms they bring - for good or ill. Street gangs (gatherings) have been part of society for aeon's and will continue to proliferate depending on the demographics of your area. Better intelligence and the correct policing will help if the police can afford the expenditure (which I doubt). Meanwhile life goes on.Voddie wrote:

I agree with all what you have said Atlas...unfortunately 'life going on' has different connotations depending on where you live your life...oh yes, life is a bitch and then you die!

Mohammed Fazal, 27, and Zafaran Ali, 19,
Two Rochdale drug dealers have been jailed.

That looks like a move in the right direction.

Re: Police Appeal
It isn't about "kids needing youth clubs " because it isn't them causing the problems these days ! and there are youth clubs but the kids don't want to know these days plus it's not safe for them to go out ?

Re: Police Appeal
You're right Jeanie .... the ' kids ' that are causing problems where I live are mostly pretty much out of their teens, like those 2 that have just been sent down for drug dealing!

Re: Police Appeal
This gang were turning over huge amounts of money. When a drug dealer is removed, another one springs up to replace them. One way to discourage that from happening is to ensure seizure of assets legislation is rigorously applied, longer and harsh sentences, and make sure possible replacement dealers know they are being observed with interest, and a place is being prepared for them.
