Toxic Car Care Products
https://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/news-features/1/business-news/109170/more-time-to-object-to-toxic-substances-being-stored-in-castleton
A firm called Tetrosyl are applying for permission to keep and store hazardous, cancer causing, toxic chemicals near housing, for making car care products.
Various shops, garden centres, supermarkets etc have a section of toxic products, they usually keep them all together. Often you can smell or sense them. Any sensible person avoids such places, but, consumers do buy these things.
The inside of a new car on a sunny day is a toxic environment, as gases leach out of all the plastics, electronics, upholstery etc. Whe anyone would want to add to that with toxic car care products is a strange mystery.
How-ever, there is a demand for cancer causing products, so they have to be made somewhere.

Not having seen the product list in detail, I can only comment generally, but the following should be considered:
Storage means secure storage, in accordance with all the regulations and statutes governing how these hazards should be managed safely.
Phrases like 'Cancer causing' have a wide spectrum of meanings - the media des not differentiate and neither do protesters.
The manufactured products have to comply with strong product liability, so again, one would argue the risks are low.
At the end of the day, the privations of unemployment are probably much more damaging.

When unemployment is high, people are under pressure to accept unhealthy and damaging employment, which may be presented as 'safe'. A well known story with a history of many tragedies. Development of non-toxic employment is far preferable.
Phrases like 'cancer causing' can be vague and emotive, or precise and factual depending on where they are used, I agree it's pretty vague.
Many a mickle makes a muckle. We have a big problem with cancer in society. The evidence points to the chemistry of our environment, of earth, water and air becoming ever more artificial and complex. The more products we use containing harmful and disruptive substances, the worse that gets. You may agree that, where there is a choice, avoiding products manufactured from hazardous chemicals is sensible?
Traffic generally is a massive environmental problem. Using unnecessary toxic chemicals to make vehicles shiny, smelly, colourful or whatever just adds to it.

Chemicals is 'Big' business. More powerful than governments as money paves the way. Natural substances get 'chemically manufactured' in order to cash in wherever possible and natural products kept on the back-burners or hidden away completely. The science regarding 'harm' are either hidden or dumbed down in order to make bigger and bigger profits and anything that benefits mankind publickly trashed as unproven or harmful. That's the world today - and there ain't nothin' you can do about it.

There are things you can do as an individual, to avoid the worst of pollution and chemical products. Keep away from main roads, and save money by not buying or using toxic products. I suppose an understanding of advertising propaganda is needed, do they teach that on 'media study' courses?

It wouldn't surprise me if they did. However - teaching in schools of all ilks should include personal awareness of chemicals of all descriptions and the unknown when mixing them and buying them for 'so called' cleanliness and health. Personally I don't get too close to any of them - man odour and bleach (hyper-chloride) will keep me going as nothing survives either in the right quantities.
