No wonder they were ashamed to hand it out at the media briefing.

So sad, so many damaged lives here, and not just those who were subjected to grooming but also the families of those and the perpetrators.
WHY oh WHY did no-one listen?!

Re: Serious Case Review (SCR) Rochdale.
Why did no-one listen? On top of general ignorance, at least in terms of the mostly asian gangs and young white victims, the population itself has apparently been 'groomed' by politics to accept unacceptable behavior without complaint. Even the slightest of criticism would at one time not so long ago arouse a chorus of cries of 'racism', people were in fear of their reputations, jobs and careers.
With yet another selection of typical groomers, child rapists, sentenced today,
http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/news-features/2/news-headlines/84449/five-men-jailed-for-rape-of-15yearold-girl
and the widespread humiliation of Rochdale council and it's agencies for incompetence, gormlessness and its' all too transparent efforts to bury bad news and cover up, at least the situation is more public domain now.
It is a very serious issue, with as you say, Poppy, very real damage done. The reports of how even very young girls have been treated by grooming gangs is beyond thinking about. The connections into other aspects of serious crime, drug trade, people traffiking etc all needs intense investigation.
With the police saying they have a backlog of victims and perpetrators to deal with, we have to wonder whether Rochdale is any safer now for vulnerable children than it has been in the past. That must be the yardstick by which success or failure is measured.

How I agree....'Political Correctness' has eroded all sense of rhyme or reason, it has crushed discussion or debate and has given the perpetrators free reign to go about their sordid business.
No-one should feel that they are above the law!

Re: Serious Case Review (SCR) Rochdale.
Political correctness, the idea you can control what people think by policing their vocabulary, is a powerful method of propaganda and an effective tool of social engineering. It became quite a high profile aspect of our society in recent years.
Like other weapons in the hands of the well meaning, it's use has unexpected consequences. The antidote of course is to think for yourself, and act accordingly, understandably difficult for people whose jobs and careers depend on saying and doing the 'right' or acceptable things.
Hopefully, the phase of political correctness has run it's course, outlived it's usefulness and is going out of fashion.
Applying the law and policing equally and effectively is the ideal to aim for. Police policy, influenced by politics and expectations of society, can lag behind. Simon Danczuk M.P. is doing the right thing in urging Greater Manchester Police to escape from political correctness as much as possible, to update to a realistic view and properly recognise the rather obvious ethnic, or cultural, aspect of the grooming issue.

GMP, the NHS and the council joining forces to protect vulnerable children. What a fantastic idea. Amazed nobody's ever thought of it. I'm sure now that all the borough's children will be safe. (About as safe as that meat pie in my fridge!)
Aren't they supposed to have been doing this anyway?
I hope that Sara Rowbotham of the NHS Crisis Intervention Team will play a leading role. This woman, who should have been awarded Rochdale Woman of the Year, was one of the very few who came out of this with any credit.
